Privacy Policy — Social Cue Companion Last updated September 24, 2025 Social Cue Companion (“the Extension,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) helps you draft social replies by sending the visible context from supported social platforms to an AI service and returning a suggested response. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information while you use the Extension. 1. Information We Collect Contextual page content (volatile). When you actively trigger the Extension on a supported site (e.g., Facebook, YouTube, X, TikTok, Instagram, WhatsApp), the content script reads the visible post, comments, author names, and any text you highlight. Only the information necessary to create a response is collected, and it is kept in memory just long enough to generate the AI suggestion. Extension preferences. We store your language choice, tone sliders, word limit, creativity level, “ask a follow-up question” toggle, and similar settings using Chrome’s storage.synclocal. These values never leave your browser. Operational metadata. For reliability, the Extension caches the most recent DeepSeek API key and a timestamp in local storage. We do not intentionally collect personal identifiers, browsing history outside supported pages, or analytics data. 2. How We Use Information Build a prompt for DeepSeek AI containing the captured context, your preferences, and optional notes (e.g., highlighted text) so DeepSeek can generate a single reply. Remember your settings so the Extension behaves consistently the next time you use it. Maintain the functionality of shortcuts, context menus, and overlay UI components. The Extension does not create marketing profiles, sell data, or run third-party analytics. 3. Sharing and Transfers DeepSeek API. The only third party that receives contextual information is DeepSeek (httpsapi.deepseek.com). We send the constructed prompt via HTTPS and receive a suggested reply. DeepSeek processes the request under its own privacy policy. API key host. The Extension periodically fetches an encrypted key bundle from httpsad853.org to authenticate with DeepSeek. No user context or personal data is included in that call. We do not otherwise share, sell, or disclose information. 4. Data Retention Contextual content is discarded immediately after the response is returned or the operation fails. We do not persist conversation histories. Preference settings remain in Chrome storage until you uninstall the Extension or manually clear extension data. Cached API keys automatically expire based on your key cache setting (default 12 hours). 5. Your Choices Disable or remove the Extension at any time through your browser’s extension manager. Clear saved preferences via Chrome’s “Clear browsing data → Advanced → Hosted app data” or by uninstalling the Extension. To prevent any contextual capture, simply do not activate the Extension on a page. 6. Security We use Chrome’s extension sandbox, HTTPS endpoints, and limited permission scopes (activeTab, scripting, contextMenus, storage) to reduce exposure. However, no transmission or storage method is 100% secure; use the Extension with awareness of the inherent risks of sharing content with AI providers. 7. Children’s Privacy The Extension is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). If you believe the Extension has collected information from a child, contact us so we can delete it. 8. Changes to This Policy We may update this Privacy Policy as the Extension evolves. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Significant changes will be highlighted in the release notes or extension listing. 9. Contact For questions, requests, or concerns about privacy, email support@ad853.org By installing or using Social Cue Companion, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy.
